SPATIAL DESIGN 1-4 Project 1: Precedent Study and Analysis

WEEK 1

We should strengthen theoretical study, in-depth study of space design related theories, including the relationship between space and place, interactive design, user-centered design, etc., in order to improve our design theory level.
In the future study, we can apply theoretical knowledge to practice through the design and practice of practical projects, so as to improve our design ability and practical experience.
Continue to learn and learn from excellent space design cases at home and abroad to cultivate their own innovative thinking

WEEK 2

During week, we explored our school to identify elements of points, lines, and planes. For instance, the circular shape of the Starbucks logo on the coffee cups some students brought, which was like a distinct "point" that caught the eye. The round shape of car tires in the school parking lot also served as an example of a circle, representing a two - dimensional form that could be related to the concept of a plane in a more complex geometric sense. And the edges of the stairs formed clear "lines", guiding our movement up and down, creating a sense of direction within the three - dimensional space of the building. We understand the scope of learning space design, key skills for designers and inspiration from nature. We need to pay attention to observing life, understand the idea behind all buildings, and find and learn from actual architectural examples.

WEEK3

From the perspective of us students, this week has enabled us to have a deeper understanding of visual perception in space design. Through abundant examples, we have clearly understood various aspects of the Gestalt principles. The figure-ground relationship has made us understand how the brain distinguishes between figures and backgrounds; proximity has demonstrated the rules of element combination; closure has embodied the brain's ability to complete; symmetry has presented various forms and its applications in architecture; continuity has emphasized the importance of element coherence. However, we hope to have more time to discuss some complex examples and add some practical operation exercises, so as to better master this knowledge and apply it to actual design.

WEEK4

This week has given me a deeper understanding of visual perception in space design. By learning Gestalt principles, I understand how different elements affect our visual experience. In future designs, I will pay more attention to the application of these principles to create more attractive and coherent space works.

APPLICATION DESIGN 1-4 Project 1: Mobile Application Proposal

WEEK1

Learn

In this lesson, we first explained the course details, learning results, assessment methods, teaching content, homework projects, relevant regulations and so on.
Secondly, it introduces the mobile application design of this course, including the importance, basic concepts, challenges, user-centered design methods, prototyping and testing, small screen design points, and performance optimization.
Mobile app design is important, and well-designed apps provide a seamless user experience, retention and customer satisfaction. Popularity and influence of smart phones
Usability definition and importance, the effectiveness and efficiency with which users interact with the product to achieve their goals, including factors such as learnability, efficiency, memorability and user satisfaction. User-centered design method, how to reduce development costs more efficiently, improve user satisfaction,
Create innovative experiences, etc

REFLECTION
As students, in terms of theoretical learning, seriously delve into the concept of usability, including understanding its significance for application design. We can collect user information through surveys, interviews, etc., and integrate it into the design process to truly be user-centered.
In addition, our students always pay attention to the emerging trends of mobile technology and design patterns, and continue to broaden their horizons and accumulate inspiration for innovative design by reading professional articles and participating in online and offline learning activities, so as to meet the ever-changing needs of users and fully prepare for the future road of mobile application design.

WEEK2

Learn

In this class , we will learn to identify unreasonable designs or inconvenient aspect of certain software interfaces and applications from a designer's perspective, while also proposing suggestions for improvement. As designers,it is the user's viewpoint. This approach enhances user-friendliness while preserving the original intent of the design .

REFLECTION

When using software, we should pay closer attention to irrationalities in its design and critically evaluate each aspect. Adopting a public-oriented perspective can significantly aid designers in creating more practical software that better meets users' needs.

WEEK3

Learn

This lesson focuses on usability and explores how product design can meet user satisfaction. Firstly, it introduces the concept of usability, including effectiveness, efficiency, and the degree of success of users in using a product in a specific context. At the same time, it emphasizes that it is related to user needs and context and can be measured. Then it elaborates on common usability pitfalls, such as complex interfaces, confusing navigation, lack of clear calls to action, etc. Then it details the key principles of usability, including consistency, simplicity, visibility, feedback, and error prevention, and gives examples respectively, such as the practices of Adidas, Airbnb and other applications in these aspects. Finally, it presents the relevant content of the mobile application proposal, including purpose, background, goals, user research, and reference materials.

Reflection
We have learned from this lesson that, firstly, we clearly understand the concept of usability and realize that product design needs to consider various aspects of user experience and measurability. After knowing the common pitfalls, we can be more sensitive to detecting problems when using or designing products. The study of key principles is very practical. For example, consistency makes the product more user-friendly, and simplicity reduces the user's operation costs, etc. The case analysis deepens our understanding. The part about the mobile application proposal makes me realize that design should be combined with actual needs and goals, and user research is crucial. The overall course content is systematic and comprehensive, laying a good foundation for future learning and practice of product design.

WEEK4

Learn

In this class, we gave a detailed introduction to a specific app, focusing on the bugs in its UIUX design. We thought from multiple different angles, analyzed the adverse effects of these bugs on the user experience. At the same time, we discussed how to make improvements to enhance user satisfaction and ease of use, making this app more perfect and outstanding.

Reflection
As a student, I gained a lot from this class. Through the analysis of the app, I learned to find problems from the user's perspective. I realized the importance of UIUX design. A small bug can affect the user experience. At the same time, I also understand the necessity of thinking from multiple angles. Different angles can find different problems and solutions. This makes me pay more attention to details and user needs in future study and life, and improve my ability to find and solve problems.
